Material:
50 g of Lana Grossa "Arioso" (48% Merino wool, 30% baby alpaca, 22% polyamide; 240 m/50 g) in Rosewood (col 19). Size 5 and 5.5 mm crochet hook. Half double crochet [hdc]: Wrap yarn over hook, insert hook into next st. Wrap yarn over hook, draw through st only, wrap yarn over hook again. Draw through all 3 loops on hook. Beg each rnd with ch 2 (does not count as 1 hdc), join rnds with a sl st in top turning-ch.
Increasing 1 hdc:
Work 2 hdc in 1 hdc in rnd below.
Decreasing 1 hdc:
Wrap yarn over hook, insert hook into next st. Wrap yarn over hook, draw through st only. Repeat into next st, wrap yarn over hook again and draw through all loops on hook.
Gauge:
15.5 hdc and 9 rnds = 10 x 10 cm with size 5.5 mm crochet hook.
Instructions:
Hat is worked from the top down. With size 5.5 mm crochet hook, ch 4, sl st to first ch to form ring. Rnd 1: Ch 2, 10 hdc into ring. Rnd 2: 2 hdc in each hdc around = 20 hdc. Rnd 3: * 1 hdc in next hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around = 30 hdc. Rnd 4: * 1 hdc in each of next 2 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around = 40 hdc. Rnd 5: * 1 hdc in each of next 3 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around = 50 hdc. Rnd 6: * 1 hdc in each of next 4 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around = 60 hdc. Rnd 7: * 1 hdc in each of next 5 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around = 70 hdc. Rnd 8: * 1 hdc in each of next 6 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around = 80 hdc. Rnd 9: * 1 hdc in each of next 7 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around = 90 hdc. Rnd 10: * 1 hdc in each of next 8 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around = 100 hdc. Rnd 11: * 1 hdc in each of next 9 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around = 110 hdc. Rnd 12: * 1 hdc in each of next 10 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around = 120 hdc. Rnd 13: 1 hdc in each hdc around = 120 hdc. Rnd 14: 1hdc in each hdc around, hdc- 2tog every 9th and 10th hdc 12 times = 108 hdc. Rnd 15: 1 hdc in each hdc around, hdc2tog every 8th and 9th hdc 12 times = 96 hdc. Rnd 16: 1 hdc in each hdc around, hdc2tog every 7th and 8th hdc 12 times = 84 hdc. Rnd 17: 1 hdc in each hdc around, hdc2tog every 6th and 7th hdc 12 times = 72 hdc. Rnds 18 – 23: With size 5 mm crochet hook, 1 sc in each st around. Cut yarn and fasten off.
Finishing:
Carefully weave in all ends. Make a 5 cm pompom and sew to top of hat.

Materials:
375 (400) g of Lana Grossa "100% Cashmere Fine" (100% cashmere; 87 m/25 g) in Silver Grey (col 1). Size 4.5 and 5 mm needles; size 4.5 mm circular needle, 60 cm long
Slip stitch selvage:
Knit the first st of every row and slip the last st of every row as if to purl with yarn in front of work.
Rib pattern:
K1, p1.
Garter st:
K every row.
Shaker Rib:
Work according to chart. Numbers at right edge of chart indicate RS rows; number at left edge of chart indicates WS row. Beg chart pat with st(s) before first arrow, work 2 sts between arrows for pat repeat, end with st(s) after 2nd arrow. Work rows 1 – 3 once, then repeat rows 2 and 3 throughout.
Gauges:
On size 5 mm needles, 19.5 sts and 39.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm in garter st; 16 sts and 44 rows = 10 x 10 cm in shaker rib.
Back:
With size 4.5 mm needles cast on 88 (96) sts and work in rib pat for 1 cm, ending with a WS row. Change to size 5 mm needles, work in garter st and shape sides as foll: Inc 1 st at beg and end of 21st row, then every foll 20th row 3 times = 96 (104) sts. Cont until back measures 31 cm from cast-on, ending with a WS row. Shape armholes: Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows, 1 st at beg of next 6 rows = 86 (94) sts. Cont until armhole measures 18.5 (19.5) cm, ending with a WS row. Shape shoulders and neck: Bind off 6 (7) sts at each shoulder edge twice, 5 (6) sts twice. At same time, on first row of shoulder shaping, shape neck: Bind off center 36 sts. Working each side separately, bind off 2 sts at each neck edge once, 1 st once. No sts remain after shoulder and neck shaping is complete.
Front:
Bottom band is worked separately, then sewn on during finishing. With size 4.5 mm needles cast on 15 sts and work in rib pat for 1 cm, ending with a WS row. Change to size 5 mm needles, work in garter st and cast on 2 sts at beg of first RS row, then every foll RS row 10 times, then cast on 3 sts at beg of next 12 RS rows, 17 (25) sts at beg of next RS = 75 (83) newly cast-on sts. At same time, when front measures same length as back to side shaping, work first 2 increases for side shaping at left edge only, work remaining 2 increases at right and left edge = 92 (100) sts. Cont until front measures 31 cm from beg, measured along left side edge, ending with a WS row. Shape armholes same as for back = 86 (94) sts. Cont until armhole measures 11.5 (12.5) cm, ending with a WS row. Shape neck: Bind off center 16 sts. Working each side separately, bind off 3 sts at each neck edge once, 2 sts 3 times, 1 st 4 times and when front measures same length as back to shoulders, shape shoulders same as for back. No sts remain after shoulder and neck shaping is complete.
Sleeves:
With size 4.5 mm needles cast on 41 (45) sts and work in rib pat for 1 cm, ending with a WS row. Change to size 5 mm needles, work in garter st and shape sleeve as foll: Inc 1 st at beg and end of 15th row, then every foll 14th row 9 times = 61 (65) sts. Cont until sleeve measures 40 cm from caston, ending with a WS row. Shape sleeve cap: Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows, 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows, 1 st at beg of next 2 rows, [work 4 rows even, bind off 1 st at beg of next 2 rows] 3 times, then bind off 2 sts at beg of next 4 rows, [work 2 rows even, bind off 1 st at beg of next 2 rows] twice, then bind off 1 st at beg of next 8 rows, 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows, 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Bind off remaining 13 (17) sts.
Bottom band:
With size 5 mm needles cast on 62 (70) sts and work in shaker rib according to chart for 13 cm, ending with a WS row. Loosely bind off all sts in pat.
Finishing:
Pin pieces to measurements and block. Beg 6.5 cm in from left edge, sew bottom band to front. Sew shoulder seams. With size 4.5 mm circular needle, pick up and knit 112 sts around neck edge. Join for working in rnds and work rib pat in rnds for 2 cm. Bind off all sts in rib. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams.
