Materials:
450 (500, 550) g of Lana Grossa "Ascot" (57% pure wool, 18% alpaca, 25% viscose; 120 m/50 g) in Heathered Natural (col 1) and 125 (150, 175) g of Lana Grossa "Silkhair Melange" (70% superkid mohair, 30% silk; 210 m/25 g) in Heathered Greige/Beige (col 720). Size 4.5 and 5.5 mm needles; size 4.5 mm crochet hook; cable needle [cn]; two 22 mm buttons [by UNION KNOPF, item 452575, col 76].
Note:
Work with 1 strand Ascot and 1 strand Silkhair Melange held tog throughout.
Rib pattern:
K1, p1.
Garter st:
K every row.
Main pattern:
Multiple of 4 + 1 + 2 selvage sts. Work according to chart 1. Numbers at right edge of chart indicate RS rows. Chart shows RS rows only; on WS rows, work sts as they appear. Repeat rows 1 – 4 throughout.
Cable pattern:
Worked over 28 sts. Work according to chart 2. Numbers at right edge of chart indicate RS rows; numbers at left edge of chart indicate WS rows. On all WS rows not shown on chart, work sts as they appear. Repeat rows 1 – 24 throughout.
Gauge:
15 sts and 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm in main pat with size 5.5 mm needles and 2 strands of yarn held tog.
Back:
dWith size 4.5 mm needles and 1 strand Ascot and 1 strand Silkhair held tog, cast on 77 (83, 89) sts. Next WS row: Selvage st, * k1, p1; rep from * to last 2 sts, k1, selvage st. Work in rib pat as established for 7 rows, ending with a WS row. Change to size 5.5 mm needles. Next RS row: Selvage st, work in main pat according to chart 1, working the last 2 (0, 2) sts of the pat rep once, then working the 4–st pat rep 18 (20, 21) times, ending with st after pat rep, selvage st. Work in main pat until back measures 29 cm from cast-on, ending with a WS row. Shape armholes: Bind off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows, 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows, 1 st at beg of next 4 (6, 8) rows = 61 (65, 69) sts. Cont in main pat until armhole measures 22 (23, 24) cm, ending with a WS row. Shape shoulders and neck: Bind off 6 (6, 7) sts at each shoulder edge once, then 6 sts twice (then 7 sts twice / then 7 sts once, 8 sts once). At same time, on first row of shoulder shaping, shape neck: Bind off center 9 sts. Working each side separately, bind off 4 sts at each neck edge twice. No sts remain after shoulder and neck shaping is complete.fg
Left front:
With size 4.5 mm needles and 1 strand Ascot and 1 strand Silkhair held tog, cast on 42 (46, 48) sts. Next WS row: Selvage st, p1, * k1, p1; rep from * to last 2 sts, k1, selvage st. Work in rib pat as established for 7 rows, ending with a WS row. Dec 0 (1, 0) st at end of last WS row = 42 (45, 48) sts. Change to size 5.5 mm needles. Next RS row: Selvage st, work in main pat according to chart 1, working the last 2 sts of the pat rep once, then working the 4–st pat rep 8 times, ending with st after pat rep / working the 4-st pat rep 9 times, then working the first 2 sts of the pat rep once / working the last 2 sts of the pat rep once, then working the 4-st pat rep 9 times, then working the first 3 sts of the pat rep once), then work 5 sts in rib pat as established for front band, selvage st [knit on every row]. Work in main pat until left front measures same length as back to armhole. Shape armhole at right edge same as for back = 34 (36, 38) sts. Cont in main pat until left front measures 37 (38, 39) cm from cast-on, ending with a RS row. Shape front neck edge: Bind of 9 sts at beg of next WS row, 2 sts at beg of next 2 WS rows, 1 st at beg of next 3 WS rows and when left front measures same length as back to shoulder, shape shoulder at right edge same as for back. No sts remain after shoulder and neck shaping is complete.
Right front:
Work same as for left front, reversing all shaping and working 2 buttonholes on a RS row when right front measures 35.5 (36.5, 37.5) cm from cast-on as foll: Selvage st, work 2 sts, bind off 2 sts, work 7 sts, bind off 2 sts, work to end. On foll WS row, cast on 2 sts over each of the 2 bound-off sts.
Sleeves:
With size 4.5 mm needles and 1 strand Ascot and 1 strand Silkhair held tog, cast on 39 sts. Next WS row: Selvage st, * k1 p1; rep from * to last 2 sts, k1, selvage st. Work in rib pat as established for 7 rows, ending with a WS row. Change to size 5.5 mm needles. Next RS row: Selvage st, work in main pat according to chart 1, working the 4–st pat rep 9 times, ending with st after pat rep, selvage st. Work in main and shape sleeve as foll: Inc 1 st at beg and end of 13th (11th, 9th) row, then every alternating 10th and 12th row 7 times / then every foll 10th row 3 times, then every foll 8th row 6 times / then every foll 8th row 10 times) = 55 (59, 61) sts. Cont in main pat until sleeve measures 45 cm from cast-on, ending with a WS row. Shape sleeve cap: Bind off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows, 2 sts at beg of next 4 rows, 1 st at beg of next 20 (20, 24) rows, 2 sts at beg of next 2 (4, 2) rows, 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Bind off remaining 7 (7, 9) sts.
Scarf:
With size 5.5 mm needles and 1 strand Ascot and 1 strand Silkhair Melange held tog, cast on 34 sts. Next RS row: Work 3 sts in garter st, then work the 28 sts of the cable pat according to chart 2 once, work 3 sts in garter st. Work rows [1 – 24] 16 times, then work rows 1 – 4 once. Bind off all sts. Make and attach fringe: For each fringe, cut 1 strand of Ascot and 1 strand of Silkhair = 2 strands, each strand 13 cm long. Insert crochet hook into fabric from WS, fold 2 strands of yarn in half to form a loop, draw loop through fabric, then draw yarn ends through loop and tighten. Attach a row of fringe along caston and bound-off edge of scarf. Trim fringe to 6 cm.g
Finishing:
Pin pieces to measurements and block. Sew shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams. With WS facing out and beginning and ending 6 cm in from front edges, sew scarf to neck edge. Fold scarf to outside. Sew on buttons.
