Materials:
100 g each of Lana Grossa „Silkhair” (70% superkid mohair, 30% silk; 210 m/25 g) in Peach (col 91), Graphite (col 94) and Sky Blue (col 92). Size 6 mm circular needles, 60 and 100 cm long.
Note: Work with 2 strands of yarn held tog throughout.
Stockinette:
K on RS, p on WS.
Slip stitch selvage:
Work according to chart. Numbers at left edge of chart indicate WS rows; numbers at right edge of chart indicate RS rows. Beg chart pat with the 6 sts before first arrow for slip st edge, work sts between arrows throughout to last 6 sts, end with the 6 sts after 2nd arrow for slip st edge. Work rows 1 – 4 once, then repeat rows 3 and 4 throughout.
Gauge:
14.5 sts and 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette with size 6 mm needles and 2 strands of yarn held tog.
Note: Numbers on schematic indicate color used.
Instructions:
With longer size 6 mm circular needle and 2 strands of col 91 held tog, cast on 143 sts. Next WS row: Work first 6 sts for slip st edge according to chart, work next 131 in stockinette, work last 6 sts for slip st edge according to chart. Work in pat as established for 40.5 cm, ending with a WS row. Next RS row: Bind off center 41 sts for arm opening. Working each side separately, cont in pat for 4 rows. Next WS row: Cont in pat and cast on 41 sts over the bound-off sts. Cont in pat until piece measures 13 cm from arm opening, ending with a WS row. Change to 2 strands col 94 and cont in pat for 27.5 cm, ending with a RS row. Next WS row: Work 6 sts for slip st edge, k131, work 6 sts for slip st edge = center fold line. Next RS row: Work 6 sts for slip st edge, work 131 sts in stockinette, work 6 sts for slip st edge. Cont in pat for 27.5 cm, ending with a WS row. Change to 2 strands col 92 and cont in pat for 13 cm, ending with a WS row. Next RS row: Bind off center 41 sts for arm opening. Working each side separately, cont in pat for 4 rows. Next WS row: Cont in pat and cast on 41 sts over the bound-off sts. Cont in pat until piece measures 40.5 cm from arm opening, then bind off all sts.
Finishing:
Pin piece to measurements and block. With shorter size 6 mm circular needle and appropriate color, pick up and knit 41 sts along one edge of first arm opening. Work 9 rows in slip st pat according to chart and on first row, cast on 1 st at beg and end of row = 43 sts. Bind off all sts in pat. Repeat for opposite edge of first arm opening. With edgings overlapping, sew short edges of top edging down on RS, then sew short edges of bottom edging down on WS. Work same edging for 2nd arm opening.
